Seeking Solutions for Congenital Stationary Night Blindness

For many years, the Foundation Fighting Blindness supported Dr. Torben Bech-Hansen in his studies of congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB). With the support of FFB-donors, he and his colleagues identified the major genes behind this condition and described how mutations in these genes lead to vision loss. Over the years, Dr. Bech-Hansen often collaborated with our own Dr. Bill Stell, Director of Research Programs. Now the pair is working to develop therapies for CSNB with major new funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
